Reiki is a natural and non-invasive holistic healing technique known to have many benefits, assisting with healing of all kinds. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word Rei which means “Universal Life” and Ki which means “Energy”. Reiki is commonly translated as ‘Universal Life Energy’. A  person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is achieved a person is physically, mentally, and emotionally balanced and their body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the balance is interrupted and the energy becomes weak or blocked it can lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

The Reiki Practitoner administers energy healing by means of touch. This energy giving is defined as “life force energy”. It flows through the body to activate and strengthen the body’s natural healing processes to restore the balance and physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Reiki simultaneously balances the chakras in the body, again activating the body’s natural healing capabilities.

The Sanskrit word “Chakra” means “circle” or “wheel”. In Reiki and other holistic practices, Chakras are considered as the “spinning wheels of life”, the points of spiritual power and energy centres. Chakras can best be described as the meeting points between mind and body or physical and spiritual.

There are seven main chakra points located on the midline of the body. Each chakra corresponds to an area of the body, including glands and organs. Despite not having a physical form, chakras do effect the organ systems, behaving as a vortex which receives, transmits or balances.

Reiki is known to affect each individual in different ways, but it always works where the receiver has the greatest need. Reiki is an intensely relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable treatment that can help enhance our overall health and well-being.
